About this forum

Day Cab Forum opened in August 2025 for people whose trucks have no bunk in them. Drayage out of a port, gravel for a contractor, a dump trailer, flatbed, hoppers in October, dry van inside 250 miles, beverage routes, hauling for one grower and nobody else. The questions that come with that work are different from the questions owner operators ask about running coast to coast, and until now they got answered in the middle of threads about somebody's fuel mileage in Wyoming.

It is run by Terry K., who posts as mod_terry_k. He drove 19 years in Wyoming, mostly gravel and oilfield work out of Casper, then spent nine years doing safety and dispatch for a 40 truck outfit, which is where he learned most of what he types here about hours and inspections. He owns two trucks now, a 2018 T880 and a 2015 Granite, and he reads the contact mailbox himself. He answers it slowly in October.

Money

The server bill is 14 dollars a month and Terry pays it. There are no ads on any page, no affiliate links in the navigation, and nothing on this site is for sale. If a member writes up a truck they bought from a dealer or a broker, that is a member writing up a truck they bought, and you should read it the same way you would read it in a truck stop booth.

House rules

  • Put a runs line on your profile. The truck, the engine, the transmission, the rear ratio if you know it, what you haul and roughly where. It shows under your name on every post and it changes half the answers you get.
  • Say what you paid. A buying report without numbers is a story, and the next person cannot use a story.
  • No trucks, trailers or parts for sale in threads. There is no classifieds board here and there will not be one. Linking a public listing to argue about a price is fine.
  • If you sell trucks, parts, insurance or financing for a living, say so in the post. Nobody minds a dealer, a tech or an agent posting. People mind finding out later.
  • Rules questions get checked against the book. If somebody quotes you a limit for brake stroke or hours of service, go read the actual rule before you bet your authority on it. That goes for the moderator too.
  • Posts get moved to the right board with a note saying what was moved. Locking a thread takes something worse than people being wrong at each other.
  • Accounts are by email request while the spam robots are busy.

What this is not

Not a dealer, not a broker, not a shop, and not a compliance service. The members here run between one and four trucks each and they are telling you what happened to them, which is useful and is not the same thing as advice from somebody carrying insurance.
