this board is for day cab tractors and the work they do. local, regional, drayage, dump, flatbed, grain, beverage, anything where the truck is in somebody's yard at the end of the shift. if your truck has a bunk in it, you are welcome to read and welcome to post, but the questions that get the good answers here are the ones about trucks that run 300 miles and come home.

i started it because i have spent twenty years answering the same four questions over the phone for other outfits in Wyoming and there was nowhere to point anybody. there are three boards here and i am not adding a fourth.

Local and regional haul is the work itself. lanes, rates, hours, drivers, dock appointments, wheelbase and trailer arguments, what you do with a truck for the eight weeks a year it has nothing to haul.

Shop, engines and DOT is the hardware and the paperwork that keeps you legal. MX-13, X15, DD13, MP8, the automated boxes, air systems, tires, the annual, what the roadside officer actually wrote you up for.

Buying and auctions: the number you paid goes in the first post, then whatever the truck turned out to be once it was yours. dealers, bank repos, sealed bids, title offices, delivery, and the tractor that was geared wrong for the work you do.

rules, and there are not many.

  • Put a runs line on your profile and it will show under your name on every post: the truck, what you haul, and roughly where. year, make, model, engine, transmission and rear ratio if you know it. half the answers on this board change depending on what is under the truck.
  • Say what you paid. A buying thread without numbers is a story, and stories do not help the next person.
  • Nothing gets sold on this forum. Not trucks, not trailers, not parts, and a classifieds board is never getting built. Pointing at a public listing to argue about what it is worth is fine.
  • If you sell trucks, parts, insurance or financing for a living, say so in the post. Nobody minds a dealer or a tech posting. People mind finding out later.
  • Torque numbers and rules of thumb from strangers get checked against the book before you put a loaded trailer behind it. That includes mine.
  • I move posts to the right board and leave a note in the thread saying what i moved. I do not delete much.

logins go out by email for now, because the robots found the registration form in about four hours. write in, name your truck and the town you work out of, and i will set you up. terry.

signed up saturday morning before the quarry opened. two trucks, gravel for a contractor out of Hattiesburg five days a week and flatbed when somebody needs pipe moved.

one ask on the runs line, terry. make people put the transmission and the rear ratio in it and not just the engine. i have watched a man get told to buy an automated for a landfill job on another website and that was bad advice for his work and good advice for the fellow who gave it. none of us knew what he was running.

other than that, pleased somebody built this. everything else i read is owner operators running coast to coast arguing about what their mpg was in Wyoming, no offense to Wyoming.

added the transmission and the ratio to the runs line, jr, and plenty of offense taken about Wyoming mpg. mine is terrible and the hills did it.

forty one members in four days, which is more than i told my wife to expect. two requests while people are still reading this far down.

when you post in the shop board, put the part number and what you paid. a thread that says i replaced the air dryer is worth nothing in two years. a thread with the part number, the shop, the labor hours and the date is worth something to a stranger in Ohio in 2028.

and ask the question you think is too simple. the man who has run one truck for eleven years and the kid who starts monday have the same question about half the time, and the kid is the only one who will admit it.
